Many times, we use engagement sessions as a "first date" with our clients. We get to spend an hour or more exploring a fun location together, getting a feel for their personalities, and watching them interact with each other. It's usually their first chance to see how we work and interact with them prior to the wedding day, but not Jess and Tommy. We've been in bridal parties together, she's been a bridesmaid for another Strouse Photo bride, we've tailgated together (Go Dukes), and even hit the beach a few times! There were no "first client date" jitters from us when we shot their engagement session.
We greeted Jess and Tommy with hugs upon their arrival at Libby Hill, and in return, we were given a few high fives ... from their 80-pound furry baby, Harper! Luckily, Jess' best friend (and our sister-in-law) came along to act as dog handler as we moved from spot to spot. Harper was very well behaved for a puppy and plenty of treats were offered for "sits" and "stays".
Jess and Tommy are a gleaming example of the phrase "easy-going". They are planning a wedding on a very short timeline, and Tommy is an accountant in the middle of tax season, but you would've never guessed by the way they laughed and joked throughout the session. A cloudy day led to some moody lighting, but they were all smiles and landed each pose perfectly.
Tommy, like most grooms, admitted to being a bit hesitant before the shoot. By the end, he was performing like an old pro. It's easy to see how much Jess and Tommy care for each other, and their ability to make any situation fun. Their laughter is infectious, and it's hard not to smile as they share a sweet kiss.
We are so excited for Jess and Tommy's Williamsburg May wedding and can't wait to participate in their special day!
