We've been counting down the days to Emily and Billy's engagement shoot since the day their names were drawn as winners of a complimentary engagement session at the VA Bride Magazine Expo in February! At the show, we immediately hit it off with this fun and vibrant couple and we spent the rest of the expo with our fingers crossed that they'd choose us....and they did!
Emily and Billy chose their own neighborhood of Church Hill as the location of their engagement shoot and we were all surprised by the cloudy "cool" 75 degree weather at the end of June. No complaints from anyone! We typically start with a few warm up poses to get our couples used to the camera and smiling naturally. Not Emily and Billy! We couldn't start taking pictures fast enough as they naturally walked hand in hand, whispered sweet nothings, and made each other laugh. Every single photo for the rest of the night showcased their love for doing life together. They cracked jokes, smiled, and poked fun at themselves and even us!
We made our way down to the docks of the Boathouse at Rocketts Landing for some final images with the James River as their backdrop. We did have to fight for space with a few other couples, some rowing crews, and even a waterlogged dog, but the sun stayed up long enough for some "sitting on the dock of the bay" pun inspired shots. We were having so much fun that without realizing it our 60 minute shoot almost doubled in length! Times flies when you are having fun and Emily and Billy make it easy to lose track of the minutes.
We are so looking forward to your wedding next July, guys! Here a few favorites from their shoot:
And to show how absolutely fun Emily and Billy are...
Had a blast, guys! You did PERFECT! ;-D
