Importance of a Girls' Weekend | Strouse House Rambles & Adventures

It's no secret that being a mom is hard, but what I didn't realize is exactly how tense it made me!

This past weekend, I joined my three high school besties (Haley, Mary and Kristen) on a girls weekend to D.C.!

If you followed along on my SnapChat or InstaStories, you saw we took the train up, became tourists for the day and enjoyed some quality time together.

What I learned from our trip was simple. It's so important to take time for yourself. To have a simple weekend away where you don't have any responsibilities other than having fun with your friends. This is vital for any new mom's mental health. Even if it's not a weekend away, take time for yourself. Go to the spa. Get a massage. Don't lose yourself in the bottles, diapers and pacifiers. And take time for yourself often.

This trip allowed for me to start my week with a fresh mind, relaxed shoulders and a new perspective. You can't beat that.

Enjoy some cellphone pictures of our Girls' Weekend Away!

We visited the White House!

Washington Monument

Washington Monument

With great natural light and a building that's great for reflecting, I had to take yet another selfie.

The girls on the Mall!

We met Abe!

Such a pretty view. It's been YEARS since I've actually visited the National Mall!

Our main man. Abe.

I don't think I've ever actually seen this monument in person, it was rather smaller than I imagined. Although, still very large!

Our friend, Haley in the National's shirt, sweet talked our way into a VIP section with free beverages! Our motto for the weekend was "Where there is a will, there is a way!"

What an amazing view!

Of course more pictures made it to SnapChat and InstaStories, but thank goodness those are only around for 24 hours, haha!

How do you refresh? Where should we go for our next Girls' Trip?
