Brad's Double Life | Strouse House Rambles

Brad here taking over the blog this week. Awhile back, we talked about our double lives: the pros and cons of working day jobs in addition to photography. Today, I wanted to dive a bit deeper into what I do from 9-5 (and many nights).
Two weeks ago, I celebrated my one year anniversary with EastCoast Entertainment. The company is celebrating it's 40th year anniversary and was founded right here in RVA! My job is to help brides, companies, and clients of all sorts find the perfect band, DJ, or specialty artist (think jugglers, Elvis impersonators, and mentalists). I love my job because I now get to work with my favorite friendors in two different capacities and I can serve as a one-stop shop for brides in search of entertainment and photographers!
Transitioning to my new role at ECE was a breeze because I was already familiar with the best local venues and vendors. I also came from a music industry background so talking backline and stage plots with brides was already second nature! I've always loved listening as brides talk through their dreams for the biggest day of their lives and now I can offer my expertise on two fronts!
Booking a caterer or picking a cake is a simple matter of taste (pun intended), but photography and entertainment are all about personality and style. It would be simple if picking a band was about finding someone who can play guitar or picking a photographer is about finding someone who owns a camera. Instead, it's about your personal preference when it comes to photography and musical style. Some photographers shoot with only natural light, some bands have a horn section and multiple vocalists, and some don't. When it comes to entertainment, it's smart to work with someone you trust to talk through the options available and make recommendations based on your preferences. When it comes to photography, once you've honed in on the style you like, it's smart to choose someone you feel comfortable with. Your photographer will be by your side the entire wedding day and if you are tense it will show in your pictures. Choose someone that makes you laugh and keeps your nerves at bay!
Planning a wedding is a massive undertaking and putting together a team early on to help ease the stress is the smartest thing you can do! We'd love to kill two birds with one stone by helping you check photographer and ceremony/reception entertainment off the list! Email me today to start planning your entertainment!
PS- I wrote a similar blog for EastCoast Entertainment a few months ago if you'd like to check it out here.
