Allie and I have our favorite engagement shoot locations, but one of the things we love most about working with new clients is their site suggestions! Despite Allie growing up in Richmond and us being back for several years, we are always delighted to share new locations with our couples.
Kaitlyn and Jon are less than a year out from their 2017 fall wedding so what better time to get together for an engagement shoot. The wind is just starting to get that early fall crispness and the leaves are finally starting to turn. They suggested we start at the Virginia State Capitol where we found them at the top of a large set of stairs in complementing outfits straight out of a J. Crew catalog. Seriously so cute together! They brought a special guest to participate in their shoot....their dog Maddie! She is an adorable beagle mix, full of energy, and eager to please whichever person was holding the treat bag.
The late afternoon lighting was perfect as we used the Capitol's white walls as a natural reflector for pictures on the gorgeous lawn, in front of sprawling ivy, and at the top of the steps overlooking the bank district. After quickly moving through all of our favorite poses (Kaitlyn and Jon are total naturals) we raced to Jefferson Hill Park to catch the remaining "golden hour" light. The park offered stunning views of Church Hill and the Bottom with Kaitlyn and Jon keeping the mood light with some inside jokes.....let's just say there were multiple brands of cereal involved. We had to take a few pauses for tourists groups on bikes and various potential photobombers, but as the sun set their smiles never faded.
We had so much fun Kaitlyn and Jon! Counting down the seasons until the big day! Here are a few of our favorites:
Thanks for the perfect Saturday afternoon, guys!
