Strouse Photo Tip #44: 3 Ways to Tastefully Incorporate School Spirit into your Wedding!

The countdowns are getting closer and closer to zero! If you are a college football fan then you know exactly what we are talking about: GAMEDAY!!! As football season kicks back into gear here are a few ways to incorportate school spirit into your special day:

1.) Colors

Every team has unique colors you can incorporate into your wedding for a flash of style and hint of familiarity. Everything from the bridesmaid's dresses, groomsmen's ties, flowers, linens, and even your garter can be customized to match your team spirit.

2.) Decorations

This is your chance to really go wild! Our Auburn themed wedding featured tiger cake topppers, vintage Auburn decor, and plenty of Orange and Blue. We've seen HOKIE TRACKS ON CAKES, life-size Duke Dog statues, and plenty of school flags and banners. The key is to maintain the balance between the passion for your school and the formal nature of a wedding. You decide where that line is and then we dare you to cross it!

3.) Tradition

This is our favorite part of weddings. We are suckers for tradition and love anything that ties the present to the past (Allie is a 3rd generation AU alumna!) We love seeing fraternity brothers singing to a new bride, sororities honoring their sister, and who can resist a stirring rendition of "Rocky Top" after the guests have had a few drinks. Try to think about traditions like famous football chants or the fight song that can be played to rouse the crowd during the reception. The "good-bye" is also a great way to end on a school spirit high note. We gave our guests authentic Auburn University stadium shakers and ran through a tunnel of our guests screaming "War Eagle" while we blared the Auburn fight song. Still gives us chills!

Whichever team you'll be rooting for this weekend, the fun doesn't have to stop when football season ends. Keep that spirit alive year round by incorportating some of these elements into your special day. Go Team Go!!
